How-To: Create a User in Cloud RADIUS with Entra ID in EZRADIUS

Self-service user management allows users to create and manage their own local accounts in EZRADIUS for Cloud RADIUS authentication, using PAP, MSCHAPv2, and EAP-TTLS, without needing to contact the network administrator.

What is Self-Service User Management for Cloud RADIUS Local Users?

In large organizations, it can be burdensome for IT staff to manage local user accounts for every employee. EZRADIUS offers a self-service user management feature that allows users to create and manage their own local accounts. This includes changing passwords, reducing the administrative burden on IT teams. These local users can authenticate using password-based methods such as PAP, MSCHAPv2, or EAP-TTLS without needing to contact the network administrator.

While this feature is off by default, network administrators can easily enable it in the EZRADIUS portal to allow their employees to create and manage their own local accounts.

How Do Employees Use Self-Service User Management?

Once enabled, your employees can access the EZRADIUS portal by logging in with their Entra ID credentials. From there, they can create a local user account and set a password. They can also change their password as needed, all without requiring assistance from the IT department. The local user is tied to their Entra ID account, with the ability to control username and password policies by the network administrator.

What Happens if an Employee Leaves the Organization?

When a user is disabled or removed from Entra ID, their corresponding local user account in EZRADIUS will also be automatically disabled. This ensures that only active employees have access to the network, maintaining security and compliance.
